Q. What is workers' comp?
A. Workers' comp – also known as workers compensation – is payment for work-related injuries or illnesses. Workers' comp provides the needed compensation, i.e., money, for medical care for workers who are hurt or get sick in the course of their employment. Most states’ legislation requires an employer to provide his or her workers with a safe place to work, and if an employee is injured or becomes ill as a result of their employment, he or she has the right to file a claim for the workers’ compensation he or she deserves.
